School to Basketball Links
The government led PESSCL (Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links) strategy was launched in 2002 and is designed to increase the number of children involved in regular sporting activities.
School to Club Links provide a very important part of this process, as they enable young athletes to continue in sporting activities outside of school hours.
The formal agreement between a School and a Club details the obligations of the school and club, and looks to make basketball a sustainable element of the curriculum. There are set targets to increase the numbers of coaches and officials and provide exit routes for children looking to develop their basketball skills. Download the agreement.
By establishing stronger links from Schools and School Sport Partnerships to Basketball Clubs with Clubmark or other accreditation, England Basketball aims to provide an opportunity for young players to develop by playing and training at a higher level. Clubs offer the benefit of regular contact with qualified coaches and officials and the chance to play in local and national league games.
To find your nearest England Basketball affiliated Club contact your local registrar or contact England Basketball on 0870 7744225 for more information.
